The SOUND4 card also acts as the host PC’s “watchdog”: with the processing cards being independent from the operating system, the card can monitor the operating system and can “revive” it through a subtle “reboot” (it works sometimes wonders...) should it crash at some point. In short, the Sound4 card reboots the PC automatically in the event of a crash, avoiding even the shortest broadcast interruption.
